I am currently an instructor in history at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. I have a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Arts in History from the same school. I also have 57 hours of graduate coursework in history beyond my Master's degree. I teach World History and have been at Xavier since 1997.
My principal historical interest is Women's History. I do not limit myself to U.S. women, or even women of the Western world. My research and studies take me back to the ancient world, and cover areas such as the Islamic world, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. I am presently developing an online continuing education course about Women and Gender in the Pre-Industrial World.
I have taught a mini-course on Witches and Magic--Historically for the University of New Orleans Metropolitan College and have also done community lecture series on this topic as well as a wide variety of other Women's History topics.
I have spent the last two summers at an archaeological dig in Romania, helping to excavate a Roman fort on the lower Danube.
